National WalkStyles' WeWhoWalk Tour Promoting Community and Wellness Through Walking Makes a Stop in Olympia. Tour will hit 50 state capitals in 50 weeks in its nationwide campaign! Grab your walking shoes and come join us!

The WalkStyles' WeWhoWalk Tour

Saturday, July 14 at 7:30 a.m.
Meet at Capitol Lake (Heritage Room)
604 Water Street
Olympia, WA

Are you up to walking 10,000 steps (5-miles)?

The walk will be led by Sue Parks, CEO of WalkStyles, Inc., and Mary M. Tennyson, as well as other community and government leaders. The safe and scenic five-mile walk will pass some of the city's most historic landmarks along the way, showcasing Olympia's beauty and culture.

FREE TO ALL RESIDENTS*

*Walkers must register at www.walkstyles.com first by July 13 to participate

The newly updated WalkStyles website, www.walkstyles.com, is a free social networking tool that helps walkers (joggers and hikers, too) connect with each other to form clubs, track their progress and be inspired. All registered walkers will receive a free WalkStyles t-shirt and a light breakfast.

The WeWhoWalk Tour is the idea of Parks, whose company WalkStyles is dedicated to helping people live a healthier, more balanced lifestyle that includes walking. By raising awareness through the July 14 walk, WalkStyles will connect current residents, newcomers and/or visitors to Olympia with other walkers in the area, and provide an inspirational focus on the healthful benefits of walking. Additionally, the tour is working to fight childhood obesity.

Parks, who turned 50 this year and was a corporate executive before forming WalkStyles, has walked at least five miles – or 10,000 steps –every day for the past 12 years. In her research, Parks learned that walking at least one mile a day could reduce the risk of heart disease by 82 percent over a ten-year period.

So please help spread the word about this fun, healthy event. Just make sure to sign up for free on www.walkstyles.com by July 14!
