From today's Olympian:

"Bill Pilkey, a financial planner and frequent critic of Thurston County's efforts to build a new jail, said he was skeptical that the intervention programs would work. He said he would rather see drug, alcohol and mental health rehabilitation programs for adult offenders to allow them better success at not returning to jail if released into the community."

Bill, if you are an Olyblog Reader, you can reach me at 943-0409. We can have a nice chat about intervention programs and rehabilitation programs. I've got experience to share on both subjects. Just ask for Larry.

Bill should read this

report. Early intervention works. He can argue that treatment for offenders is a better spending priority, but his skepticism regarding early intervention seems uniformed.

Day 1

No calls.  There were some interesting posts on the comments threads in The Olympian, though.  I seems that Bill made a fuss about a County Comissioner a couple of years ago.  It all turned out to be much adu about nothing.

Let's see what happens on Day 2.

Maybe...

He doesn't read OlyBlog.
or...
maybe he doesn't care what you think.

Both of the above, Rob

I think you are correct on both issues.  Of course, that doesn't speak well for someone that is trolling for votes for his own election to Port Commission.

I'm going to trust that the power of Olyblog and the word on the street will reach Pilkey.  How he reacts is his choice.

I wouldn't call you if I

I wouldn't call you if I were him. The tone of your post is very much holier than thou. It really sounds like you plan on 'enlightening' him to 'how it is'. He has an opinion about things and is standing behind it, I don't think there's much you could do about it. You don't like him, don't vote for him, tell your friends not to, but don't expect that he's going to call you for some schooling on his issues.

Well, Rob...

I guess we have one more case of "tone" on the written word of Olyblog.

It is my thought that Pilkey's position on Proposition 1 is from lack of experience and knowledge on the subjects of rehabilitation and intervention, based on his quotes.  I offer, what I think, is an opportunity for dialog.  Now, I do happen to have a bit of experience on those subjects and am willing to share because I'm firmly convinced that it would be best for the community to learn to talk to each other when we don't always agree on things.

I'm sorry you read more into my post than was intended.  If I was just being a jerk, I wouldn't put my office phone number in the blog.  In fact, I probably wouldn't have posted at all.

That's all well and good,

but none of that came through in the original post. For what it's worth, I knew from first read that you weren't trying to be a jerk, but I've had the time get to know that that's just how you come across sometimes, Pilkey, and others who read your posts and comments probably won't get that and will write you off. If you don't care, neither do I frankly, I'm just pointing it out.

Geeze Larry

Your comments and posts need to come with disclaimers. Quit making so many dang enemies. Ended my round yesterday with a triple on 18 and finished with a 92. Time for me to quit on a high-note!

Nice round!!!

I'm doing a scramble tomorrow at Riverside in Chehalis.  Hope  I can get my fairway woods working better. Playing Scott Lake on Labor Day, I was posed to beat my best (41, on July 4th, no less) and I doubled on the last hole to match my low score.

Bob Moad, a motivational speaker, used to talk about not taking out the "water" ball when you come to a hole with water because a "water" ball will go in the water.  He also shared that if you are a 90s golfer and shoot in the low 40s on the front, you'd make it up on the back.  Focus, Daniel-son.

Disclaim, datclaim, I don't have a stake in the claim.
