The work I've done in the past year has convinced me to take time out and ask for some things which help my work. For the past three years, most of these items have come out of my food budget.
While my clothier does not mind this (losing a size or two helps their bottom line and streamlines my own bottom line as well) I must say that I prefer having regular nutrition which does not involve 'spanging,' 'panhandling,' begging, or shoplifting.

Of course, if you decide to shoplift any of these items be sure NOT to tell me about it. Fnord.

Why must it be Microsoft Office?

Why not this? or this? or this? or this?

Sorry, we've been down that road before...

For creating a new database, or beginning a new project, your suggestions make sense. We already have OpenOffice at the Island now. What we're doing is replacing an existing functionality, which died when a hard drive went the way of all things mineral. (rocks and metal don't heal)

We have existing databases which need to be accessable, usable, and more than 65,000 records - which Base (as installed on our "jukebox Box" at the Island) seems to be unable to do. Also, Base seems to be unwilling to open mdb files - so we must, if we are to migrate, use MS Office for some time intermediate to such a shift. Working toward that is not my passion. I have no religious allegience to OS or to Application - I work on the principle of "I got it, I learned how to use it, now I don't want to reclimb that learning curve without absolute need."

Which is another way of saying I've been a hacker / computer geek long enough to realize that I'd rather be interested in women.

Inspiration

Drew, you are an inspiration. You are taking good care of yourself.

I may not be able to help materially yet, but you know I support the cause.

I have some stuff

I think I have a bunch of extra CDs. You are welcome to use my shit anytime. I share. I have a 4 in 1 HP scanner, copier printer bla bla bla. Extra hard drive space. Pentium 2, and laptop that is temporarily out of commission. Bunch of software including what you're asking for. Hotter than snot Comcast connection in Tumwater (about 3 miles away). I could loan you things too, well not the CPU haha. But the printer I could. What I don't have is a camera or video gear. I don't know squat about video either but I want to get some dance videos on this webspace eventually. Not the first version. Nr. Smooth and I discussed this tonight. I believe I am about to learn break dancing and if anyone laughs at me, well you already know my proficiency with martial arts haha. Only on the grass. No concrete, well at first.
