Peace without Justice
Simon Sedillo will be screening the 41-minute documentary "Paz Sin Justicia," a film by the group from Oaxaca, Mexico, Committee in Defense of the Rights of the People (CODEP). This film examines the popular uprising in Oaxaca, the current repression, and the ongoing struggles for justice and liberation. Corruption, institutionalized repression, and economic oppression are a part of everyday life for Oaxaqueños. Following the movie, community organizer and filmmaker, Simon Sedillo will lead a discussion of popular resistance movements throughout Mexico and the United States.

A 4-session experience at Olympia Zen Center with a fully trained and ordained Zen Roshi, in a lovely natural setting, training in Zen meditation, other Zen practices, Starting April 2nd and spanning 2 weekday evenings and 2 Saturdays culminating in an all day retreat, April 12th. Please join us to hear Global Exchange experts on NAFTA discuss its failure, as it approaches fifteen years, and its evolution behind closed doors as the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP).
The Global Exchange team takes a critical look at the SPP (aka Super-NAFTA or NAFTA-Plus). The team provides an incisive overview of the economic and security policy being negotiated behind closed doors between elite corporations and the executive officials of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The team also details the links between bad trade and economic polices and the accelerated Mexican migration to the the U.S.
