On Sunday morning, April 6th, tune in to The Think Tank on KAOS 89.3 FM for a tribute to the late Gene Eugene, on what would have been his 47th birthday.

Gene Eugene was the frontman for the funk-rock band Adam Again. He was also one of the founding members of the gospel/Americana supergroup Lost Dogs.

In addition to this, he was a producer, engineer, and instrumentalist who worked with such artists at Over the Rhine, Richard Swift, Randy Stonehill, and Michael Knott.

He was also the owner of the Green Room studio in Huntington Beach, CA (he died there in his sleep on 3/20/2000).

On this tribute show, you'll hear lots of Lost Dogs songs as well as some Adam Again songs (including covers of Bill Withers, Leonard Cohen, and the Beatles).

There will also be some covers of Gene's songs, and interviews by two of the surviving Lost Dogs, Mike Roe and Derri Daugherty (also of, respectively, the 77's and the Choir).

The show begins at 10 am PST on KAOS and will broadcast until noon. You can hear it online here.

If you miss the show, it will be available online in the near future.

The Arts Commission of the City of Olympia invites local artists and arts organizations to join a monthly community arts roundtable that will give participants the opportunity to exchange ideas, share experiences and create strong local support for their work. The next meeting will be held on Monday, April 7, 2008, at 4pm in the Olympia Timberland Library meeting room. Monthly meetings follow on the first Monday of each month at 4pm in the same location.

Artists who sell artwork – from paintings to poetry, mosaics to music - are small business owners. What kinds of support can be found in our community to help artists be better entrepreneurs? Join Celia Nightingale, Director of the Small Business Development Center and Lisa Smith, Director of Enterprise for Equity for a discussion about the business of art.

Breaking the Spell is a 1999 anarchist documentary, directed by Tim Lewis, Tim Ream, and Sir Chuck A. Rock.

Using amateur camera footage recorded by protesters at the scene of the 1999 WTO riots, it documents the riot from the perspective of the anarchists, their opinions of fellow protesters, local politicians, and includes footage which aired nationally on 60 Minutes.

The film is currently distributed by CrimethInc. on the CrimethInc. Guerilla Film Series, Volume One DVD.
