Dr. Norman Finkelstein is a renowned scholar and author of several books, most recently Beyond Chutzpah: On the Misuse of Anti-Semitism and the Abuse of History. The son of holocaust survivors, Dr. Finkelstein has thoroughly and famously debunked cherished myths and pseudo-scholarship around the Palestine–Israel conflict and holocaust studies.

His tireless efforts for truth and justice have made him the target of an attack campaign spearheaded by Alan Dershowitz.

“[Beyond Chutzpah] is in fact the best compendium that now exists of human rights violations in Israel and the blocking of diplomacy by Israel and the United States...[a] very careful scholarly book, as all of [Prof. Finkelstein’s] work is. Impeccable.” —Noam Chomsky

Renowned activist-scholar Norman Finkelstein will speak in Olympia on Thursday, May 8, on "Israel and Palestine: Roots of Conflict, Prospects for Peace."

Dr. Finkelstein is the author of several books, most recently Beyond Chutzpah: On the Misuse of Anti-Semitism and Abuse of History. The son of holocaust survivors, Dr. Finkelstein has thoroughly and famously debunked the cherished myths and pseudo-scholoarship used to excuse the Israeli occupation and oppression of Palestinians.

Professor Finkelstein was recently the target of a much-publicized tenure battle at DePaul University. Despite being hailed by DePaul as a "prolific scholar and outstanding teacher," Finkelstein was denied tenure following a vicious smear campaign spearheaded by celebrity lawyer/torture advocate Alan Dershowitz.

Finkelstein's work has been hailed by activists such as Amy Goodman and Noam Chomsky, as well as by preeminent holocaust scholar Raul Hilberg.

His struggles have highlighted the ideological attacks on academic freedom by Israel apologists and have exposed the violent, illegal, and immoral nature of US/Israeli aggressions in the Middle East.

He is also the subject of a forthcoming documentary, American Radical.

Tickets are FREE for Evergreen students. (Available at the Evergreen Bookstore with ID)
