Terra Commons will be hosting an Edible Forest Garden Work Party on Saturday May 31st, and Sunday June 1st to establish a demonstration forest garden at Circle Hawk Farm in South East Olympia 9404 Crete St. SE.

During this work party we will be doing hands on learning by sheet mulching lawn and planting an Edible Forest Garden.
Edible Forest Gardens consist of three main layers, with fruit and nut trees as the upper canopy, berries and other edible bushes as the middle layer and perennial vegetables and fruits as the ground cover.
The work party includes:
~Design and layout of trees and shrubs
~Planting trees and shrubs
~Sheet Mulching lawn
~Mushroom Inoculation

We will be there from 10am until 6pm both days with potluck lunches. Feel free to come for both full days, half days or just stop by when you can.
Please Park on the paved part of Crete Street, then walk in. Circle Hawk Farm is the first driveway to the left, come back and you will see us behind the barn.

Week of Events at Evergreen Sit-In!

All events are in the Sem 1 building on the 4th floor, just outside of administrator Art Costantino’s office. Every event is completely free and open to all. Students and staff (including faculty) are encouraged to come as well as community members. Take some time off from the stressfulness of class and work this week and relax at a musical performance, film screening or educational workshop.

She was kicked out of Evergreen by the administration before, but she’s back by popular demand.

Wednesday June 4th

People’s University reconvenes for classes. Education of, by and for the community. Workshops include: * Student activism in India – Local activist, pacifist and former UN peacekeeper Dr. Muhammad Ayub will give a talk about his experience as a student activist and organizer in India. * GI Resistance - The history of the role soldiers played in ending the Vietnam war and what it means for us today. * Sanctuary City – the project to make Olympia a sanctuary city for both GI war resisters and undocumented workers. * Community Accountability & Sexual Assault - A discussion on something very important that is often overlooked or ignored.

As part of the educational and community programs SDS has hosted since launching its sit-in in front of Vice President Art Costantino's office, we are proud to sponsor another event. This show features the performers who played the night of the infamous "canceled concert" which lead to the disciplinary action taken by the administration at Evergreen. Hope to see you there.
