Duck the Malls Arts & Crafts Sale!

Who needs the mall? Support the local economy!

For one day only, the Capitol Theater auditorium becomes a local art and craft sale featuring the area’s best handmade fashion, artwork, and quirky quality goods—all produced by local and independent artists and artisans.

206 E. 5th Ave. [in the heart of the scariest of downtowns] Downtown Olympia, of course!

Proceeds benefit the artists and the OFS Art Gallery.

I love Duck the Malls!

I have found some great gifts at this event, and it makes me feel virtuously hyperlocal to be supporting local artists.  Plus, a lot of people at Duck the Malls seem to make their crafts out of recycled materials, which appeals to me.  The first year I went, I was really bummed because I had already bought most of my Xmas gifts, and I found a lot of stuff at Duck the Malls that was better.  Plus, I really enjoy avoiding the mall, with the parking lot hassles and piped-in Xmas music, etc.

I wish this event wasn't

I wish this event wasn't limited to tomorrow. It would be nice if I could duck the malls next Tuesday, when I plan to start my search for gifts.
