Don't Say We Did Not Know - Israeli Activist Amos Gvirtz

Amos Gvirtz, a lifelong pacifist and Israeli peace activist, will speak Thursday, April 30th, at 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church, 701 Franklin St. SE, in Olympia.  Gvirtz is author of "Don't Say We Did Not Know, “ a collection of writing about government actions that affect the Palestinian and Bedouin communities in Israel and Palestine.  His recently published book, Don’t Say We Did Not Know, focuses upon the moral questions he feels Israelis must face today.  Gvirtz will discuss the difficulties human rights and peace organizations in his country face, along with the history of their successes, and the risks Occupation presents for the future existence of Israel.   Gvirtz is a longtime member of the International Fellowship of Reconciliation (IFOR) and part of the Negev Coexistence Forum for Civil Equality.   The free event in Koinonia Hall is sponsored by the Rachel Corrie Foundation for Peace and Justice.

Green Hill Youth Presentation on the School to Prison Pipeline

Youth from Green Hill School will speak about their experiences including the school-to-prison pipeline and racial and ethnic disparities in the justice system. Green Hill School is a juvenile correction facility with the mission to transform lives by providing meaningful educational/vocational opportunities that will inspire and prepare young men for successful living, learning and working. The school provides academic high school coursework as well as vocational training in wood shop, welding, automotive maintenance, horticulture and landscaping, and computer drafting and technology. They partner with the Evergreen State College Gateways for Incarcerated Youth for college credit and academic mentoring. Youth on the United Youth Council have testified before the State Supreme Court, legislators, and schools across the state. Mini-Golf at the Library

Join us at the Tumwater Timberland Library for an exciting game of mini golf. Each player will putt through 9 holes. Stop by the library starting April 3 to get your free ticket and tee time. Program paid for by the Friends of the Tumwater Timberland Library. The library is normally closed at this time and will only be open for this event.

Stuffed Animal Singalong Sleepover

Hey kids! Bring your favorite stuffed animal for a sleepover at the Tumwater Timberland Library! After a singalong of songs and movement games, we'll tuck the animals in and say goodnight. Come back the next day between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. to pick up your stuffed animal friend and find out what mischief the animals got into during their night at the library! This event is part of the Family Read & Sing Aloud, a Timberland Regional Library districtwide program.
