Steve Pottle announces he will resign the Commission
Submitted by DrewHendricks on Tue, 07/18/2006 - 5:13pm.The Commission will set a process for appointing a new Commissioner for the temporary duty until the election in 2007. Steve Pottle's seat (District 2) and Robert VanSchoorl's seat (District 1) will both be open for election at that time, probably with no incumbent seeking re-election.
Pottle's announcement came just before Public Comment at 7:30PM. The meeting started at 5:30PM.
The commission has moved to the new format to limit public commentary critical of the war. They now take public comment only at regular meetings, once a month in the past two months. When they do take public comment, they force the public to wait through everything else. The next regular meeting is on August 14th, at the LOTT Board room second floor, 111 Market at 5:30PM. Don't plan an early dinner...
Meanwhile, people planning to run for the vacated seats should become familiar with the county's three commissioner districts and their boundaries. And read the RCW's which describe the Port Districts.
