[edit: This has been found to be misinformation. Strykers, upon last confirmation, were not moving through the port of olympia. The vehicles, among others in large numbers, have been spotted by reputable sources near the port of tacoma. see above.]

i'm passing on this info I got from indymedia:

the stryker vehicles are expected to come through the port of olympia TONIGHT (fri) by 11pm-1am.

they are doing it in the middle of the night sooner than expected in hopes to catch the war resisters off guard.  head down to the port of olympia for round two of protests and help stop the military!

they can't use our port to make their illegal war!

Rumors

Maybe it's true. But this is a totally unsubstantiated rumor. I wouldn't advise anyone to go to the Port when it is raining and freezing and in the middle of the night. Unless you have photos or some sort of documentary evidence that there is a convoy coming through...

I can't imagine the Army using a sneak 'em through strategy. And in the middle of the night? And on a weekend? I would have to see it to believe it. I'll get up early tomorrow and check it out I suppose. In the light of day, when I can see!

Convoys at Night

To think that the military would seek to slip by undetected at night like delinquents. It would be an admission of guilt, I think, that this convoy can't pass in the light of day, under the scrutiny of the citizenry.

Hah!  They train for more

Hah!  They train for more than wars overseas.  They train to help communities devastated by mother nature.  They train to fight domestic terrorism.  And, they also train to combat protest.

To make assumptions about why they are moving and when goes to show how little you know about the military.  Rob, it is an admission of nothing.  Why not take a small victory in knowing you may have had a hand in what venue they chose.  It may also be that they simply don't want to deal with the absurdity that is Olympia.  I'll bet money it's the ladder.

I think you are right, EG.

I think you are right, EG.  The military's choice of Port of Tacoma as venue was a small victory and I think they absolutely train to get their material out with an eye to protests and blockades.  It is part of the landscape for them.

I think on your bet you meant latter instead of "ladder."  I was scanning fast, had to skip back for a minute, thinking ladder?  what ladder?   what does a ladder have to do with it?

Not having a laugh at you over the ladder thing, just thought it was an entertaining moment for me when your ladder made me jump the rails momentarily. Communication is tricky even if we all type exactly what we mean to type.

This did not happen - this had not happened by 2AM

This had not happened by 2AM. All signs were that they were moving out through Tacoma's port at Milwaukee and 11th. They were using exit 136 and moving down Port of Tacoma Rd to Maxwell and then across Maxwell (Left from Port of Tacoma Rd) to Thorne Road and thence to the Port of Tacoma Terminals. If they move all night they might be done by dawn at the rate seen. PMR intelligence
