The Head! That Wouldn't Die!

On a beautiful day in 1963, the brilliant intern Dr Bill Cortner and his fiance Jan are involved in an auto accident , in which Jan is decapitated. Using his new experimental serum, Bill manages to keep Jan alive. In a race against the clock Bill begins a search for the perfect body for his darling Jan.

As Bill's quest takes a dark turn, so do things in the lab. Jan is awake and her senses are heightened by the serum that is keeping her alive. Wishing for death's release, Jan forges alliances with Dr. Cortner's less successful experiments.

In a new adaptation by the TAO Collective of the classic B movie The Brain That Wouldn't DIE, this all original musical will tickle your funny bone, get your toes tapping and maybe give you a chill or two in the process.

Clybourne Park

Thu, 10/02/2014 - 8:00pm - 10:30pm

Clybourne Park is an outrageous modern comedy that fearlessly, and hilariously, tackles some of the most challenging social issues of our time. Act One takes place in an all-white neighborhood in 1959 Chicago, as nervous community leaders anxiously try to stop the sale of a home to a black family. Act Two is set in the same house 50 years later as a white family attempts to move into the now predominately African-American neighborhood, which is struggling to hold its ground in the face of gentrification. This Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play offers fascinating and original insights into issues surrounding race, political correctness, and what truly makes a community. Bruce Norris’ incredible script brilliantly balances humor and heartbreak to deliver a powerful and enlightening experience. “Vital, sharp-witted, and ferociously smart.” ~The New York Times

The Two Gentlemen of Verona

Thu, 07/24/2014 - 7:00pm - 9:15pm

This summer, Animal Fire Theatre presents William Shakespeare's THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA. Shakespeare fans know that this comedy of love and friendship lost and found again is a true time capsule of its age and of sixteenth century ideas about how love and relationships should work. Today, some of these ideas have been discarded and others have been allowed to change form and linger. Animal Fire chose this comedy as their followup to Hamlet and Julius Caesar because it engages with issues far more present our modern world with a joviality guaranteed to please. Staged with a sharp wit and packed to the brim with comic delights, the show features some of Olympia’s best talent, music and even “a bit with a dog”.

The Two Gentlemen of Verona runs July 24 – August 10th. During the first weekend, you will find the show at Animal Fire's old home of Priest Point Park, July 24th – 26th at 7 pm and July 27th at 2 pm. The show goes on tour during its second weekend, with two 7 pm stops on July 31st and August 1st at the Tumwater Farmer's Market, at the southwest corner of Capitol Boulevard and Israel Road, plus a 2 pm matinee at the Griswold Building in downtown Olympia, 310 4th Ave E. The troupe returns to Priest Point Park for closing weekend, with 7 pm shows August 7th, and 8th and 2 pm matinees on August 9th and10th. All shows are free to the public and guests are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets.
