Oct 16 2006 - 11:22am Nov 13 2006 - 11:22am Thurston County is inviting local businesses to join Waste Free Holidays (www.wastefreeholidays.com), a program that encourages holiday shoppers to give “experiences” instead of stuff in turn reducing the amount of waste that goes to the landfill. Waste Free Holidays is a partnership between Thurston County, Cities of Tacoma and Seattle, Pierce, King and Kitsap Counties and businesses that provide discounts on experiences or services such as movies, restaurants, spa treatments, memberships, lessons and more. Benefits To local business · Increased visibility for your business · Potential to gain new customers · Strengthen your environment imageHow the program works Participating businesses offer a minimum 15% discount on gift certificates purchased from November 15 – December 31, 2006 to customers who mention the Waste Free Holidays program. They determine the details of the discount offer, and keep track of how many people receive the Waste Free Holidays discount in order to help evaluate the success of the program We provide the advertising. The government partners will coordinate newspaper ads, radio and TV spots, newsletters, posters, etc. that direct consumers to the Waste Free Holidays web site (www.wastefreeholidays.com). There will be links on the site to each participating business offer and we can provide a link to your website.
