April 16 2007  32 people

April 16 2007  32 people shot to death in Virginia - this gets quite a lot of air time.  No end to discussion and television coverage of the tragedy.

April 18 2007  183 people killed in bomb blasts in Baghdad - how much news coverage are Iraqis killed at the market going to get?

I think there's something creepy about the emphasis we put on American deaths and the discounted value we put on Iraqi deaths.

I have tried to pay almost no attention to the VA killings.  It's a sad situation, no doubt and my heart goes out to the survivors, but the killing goes on in Iraq and we could do something about that if we wanted to.

Oh well.  Everybody stay safe as you can.  Don't get shot or blown up if you can help it.  Don't shoot or blow anyone up.  Lay down the weapons.  Enough already.
