"Wish You Were Here" - Postcard Art Show

From last week's inbox:

After months of seeking submissions, South Puget Sound Community College’s “Wish You Were Here” Postcard Exhibit is ready to be unveiled at SPSCC's Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts Gallery.

More than 75 local and regional artists submitted more than 250 works in a wide variety of media for the show and silent auction. The postcards include paintings, prints, photography, drawing, ceramics, sculpture and mixed media.

The exhibit opens on Wednesday, Jan. 11 and runs through March 2, with a special opening reception to thank the participating artists on Friday, Jan. 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the gallery. The opening reception kicks off the 6-week silent auction as well, with bidding beginning at 7 p.m. on Jan. 20. Each of the works on display will be available in the auction. A special closing reception will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on March 2, with bidding closing at 7 p.m. Successful bidders at the closing reception can take their winning works home with them that night, while successful bidders not present will be contacted via e-mail following the closing reception. All proceeds from the silent auction benefit the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts Gallery. A “People’s Choice” award will also be announced at the closing reception.

The Minnaert Center Gallery is open Mondays*, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (*excluding Holidays), from noon to 4 p.m., and by appointment. For more information, e-mail artgallery@spscc.ctc.edu or call (360) 596-5527. Information about the gallery is also available online at www.spscc.ctc.edu/cfa.
