Saturday May 19, 6-10 PM; Live Music on Red Square; Beer Garden in the Library Building
Celebrate Evergreen’s 40th anniversary with live music and dancing on Red Square.
Three local alumni bands will rock the night away. Enjoy the jump and swing of 7 on 7, the cloudy folk rock of Lake, and the high energy funk of The Brown Edition. Enjoy a slice of a GIANT anniversary cake, have your picture taken with Speedy and, if you’re over 21, enjoy the Beer Garden.
This family friendly, musical event is free and open to the community.
The Brown Edition Including Greeners, Miguel Pineda '08 and Thomas Pell '08 The Brown Edition is high energy funk driven by original stylings from some of the best musicians around. A bass groove will reach around and grab the soul while guitars elevate the mind. A horn section will massage the brain as the keyboards and percussion shake the booty! Although The Brown Edition writes its own music, they are not afraid to take on the challenge of tackling some of the most difficult works from some of jazz and funk's reigning royalty.
LAKE Including Greeners, Eli Moore '05 and Andrew Dorsett ‘13 LAKE is a group of cloudy individuals brought together through lines drawn along Interstate-5, intersecting in Olympia around 2005. The sounds they craft are straight from the playbook of the good parts of Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac, and Turkish psychedelic music. Caressing the Rhodes piano, endearing drum fills, guitars that don’t sound like guitars, and some slamming bass lines: listening to LAKE is like pouring sugar in your ears. They’ll turn your brain into chocolate, 67% cacao.
7 on 7 Including Greener, Pat Cole ‘81 Jump and swing express…..they are living large! Classic swing, modern swing, and jump music with horns, powerful vocals and that feel good rhythm that makes you want to dance! 7 on 7 plays a variety of tunes that they just like -- some funk, some jazz, some blues, a little Motown, some others. Visit http://www.evergreen.edu/40/return and select Evergreen's 40th Anniversary Party for more information. For those who cannot attend, KAOS will be carrying the concert LIVE at 89.3 FM, in our region on Comcast channel 982, and streaming to the world at www.kaosradio.org.
