From the accounts I've read I have to conclude there were only two woman involved that night, the responding security officer who was threatened by the mob and the woman who identified the person detained. From what I've seen rioting is a macho, testosterone fueled dick thing. I'm curious: How many women threw punches at the show. How many women threw garbage at the cops? How many women helped to turn over the cop car? I ask these questions because I wasn't there and therefore do not know. Please do not interpret my words as dismissing the power of women to physically defend their beliefs. Women have a centuries-long history of being on the front lines of the barricades. Women were on the front lines of the WTO police riots in Seattle and they were there at the Port military resistance. Their actions speak louder than any words I can write. What I'm raising for discussion is the role patriarchal bias plays in the conversation over the riot.

What are you claiming here? you need to define exactly what you are saying, beyond your gender bashing vitriol.

Do you have any thoughts on the assaulted woman's claims being brushed aside or ignored on the various discussions? I would think that shows a lack of awareness or understanding for victims of DV or Assault.

Submitted by chad360 on Wed, 02/20/2008 - 4:18pm.I think that what Tschida./C. is responding to is this part of the message:
"From what I've seen rioting is a macho, testosterone fueled dick thing."
To respond to the thread question posed by Laurian:
I was not there, so I don't know how many females "rocked the vote" that nite.

Submitted by Laurian on Wed, 02/20/2008 - 4:24pm.Definition Patriarchal A system run by males (not females).
From what I've seen rioting is a macho, testosterone fueled dick thing. rhetorical flourish my friend. I try to craft words as well as express ideas
Come on Tschida the facts are men are overwhelmingly responsible for property destruction and violence. Go to the FBI web site and review the crime statistics. The bias I speak of is all the reporting on the incident I've read has been authored by bylines that appear to indicate the writer was male. Comments on this blog have a 4 to 1 bias in that direction as well. We won't mention the posts on the Olympian web site.
Now instead of throwing invective how about addressing my questions. Does the FACT that the majority of coverage and conversaion in this topic in any significant way shape the discussion? If not, wht not. If you think my my questions are inane, why are they inane? Conversation friend, not bomb throwing.
From the discriptions I've read of the mob

Empathy is not experience (I can't walk in your shoes, nor you mine), but it can be the first step towards understanding & tolerance (I don't know where all-that came from, but I'm just typing it down as it comes out...).
You pointed out the gender ratio and postings/discussions...
