Put on the Roberta Flack this morning.

I sometimes want to listen to The First Time when I have a few minutes and I am in the mood for prayer.

Even though it is a love song, it always strikes me as a prayer in its pacing.  It's true genius and incredible courage to have scored this track so slow and so sparse.

Don't bother to listen to it unless you are willing to actually sit down and simply listen to it.  The timing, the stretch of time, Roberta does not nothing with her voice but hit the notes beautifully and clearly.

Thank you, Roberta, for this gift.

Such A Gorgeous Song

I never tire of hearing it and I sing my grandson to sleep some nights singing it to him!

I never thought of it as a prayer, but after listening to it again (TYVM for the link Janet), I do hear it that way!  Thanks for enlightening me!
