Referring to the OPMR and assumedly the OMJP, Michelle Malkin spewed forth this hyper-conservative intolerant tripe.

"Useful idiots, meet useful idiots. A reader forwarded me this e-mail request sent out today to “peace and justice” moonbats in Washington state. Seems al Jazeera wants “broadcast quality” video footage of the seditious protests blocking military equipment at the Port of Olympia."

»

She's joking right?

I mean, it's a bad joke, but al Jazeera doesn't seriously want footage from Oly do they?
»

Of course not Norm

People like her and Tschida just make it up as they go along.
»

Uncalled For

But, hey, that's how you roll.
»

Well you missed

Tsch's posting of some obviously Doctored photos.
»

No

I saw them.

»

Well then

I'm not sure why you are giving Rob a hard time.
»

Umm, how long will you hide your proof on the photos?

Please enlighten us. Give something other than your feeling that contradicts the story and photo. Can you? Will you? C.

One of the great non sequiturs of the left is that, if the free market doesn't work perfectly, then it doesn't work at all-- and the government should step in.

How is it uncalled for?

I'm holding him accountable for his actions. This blog is about citizen journalism and he posted obviously doctored photos and tried to pass them off as real. I think he needs to apologize, and change his ways, or not blog here anymore.
»

How will we feel?

When we know the truth about the photos, one way or the other?  I don't believe they are doctored up with additional objects.  I do think they've been edited for color and/or contrast which would explain the "Program Name" attribute.

Just curious what you, Gug, and Larry will think should they in fact be genuine.

»

If they are genuine, I'll say I was wrong

unlike other folks here. Ignore the drop shadows if you will. Pretty damn obvious.
»

You are correct

teh only manipulatins appears to be fiddling with some color saturation and sharpening. What I did was appologize to Tsch.
»

They are a news organization

I can't imagine why they wouldn't want it. Malkin is just happy to associate the activists with al Jazeera, which is just one step up from al Qaeda to her.
»

Malkin will feed on this one for weeks

She should pay royalities to the protestors, or at least give them a tip.

One of our locals bought her BS already, thus the link I copied and pasted from The Olympian.  Even my old eyes could see the photoshop job, but it was perfect for her readers.  If you told them the moon was made of green cheese, they'd be planning a trip there for St. Patrick's Day.

I about gagged at the headline on her blog about the woman "dropped: her child.  The picture looked like a mother picking up a child that tripped on the curb.  Toddlers fall all the time.  I'm not sure that the picture was even taken in the proximity of the protests.  I can't make out enough of the background.  That particular picture could have been a woman and her three children in a different location, then "shopped" for effect.  Rather dispicable, as Daffy would say.

I'm alerting Keith Olberman

to the doctored Malkin photos. It could earn her another "Worst person in the World" award.

Oh....please.....

Is anyone else concerned

Is anyone else concerned that al Jazeera could show video from Olympia in a completely different light? Am I being paranoid?
»

I'm equally concerned

about how FOX manipulates their broadcast of events around the world

»

True

but 2 wrongs don't make a right. Focus Daniel'san
»

Vewwy Focused, Bugs

In this information age, it would take nearly nothing for any news source to access information and manipulate it to their favor.

Look at what was done in Malkin's column, right here in the good old US of A.

I'm still, slowly, working

So I haven't looked at the site. I will certainly do a little digging tonight once everything calms down.
»

Hey Guys!

I wanna see these Photoshopped pictures. I'm sure they are a shitty job of Phitoshop from the resident queen of multiple personalities over at "       .com".
»

Go to the like in the original post

"this hyper-conservative intolerant tripe." It's not a bad job actually. But they for got to sufficiently blend the edges. And they forgot to put bandanas on the same kids in another picture.

I don't know which doctored

I don't know which doctored photos are being referred to, but I'd say that's an enormous boo-boo.

I believe in the U.S. mission in the Middle East. Do we need to do things differently with foreign and domestic policy to make it work? Of course. A "War Tax" would be a perfect start. Hell, make it voluntary. If you believe in our mission in the Middle East, start contributing money toward it. I'd like to see a way to ensure that the spoils of war go to those who fund it, though. Sorry, but I'm not big on sharing with those who seek to undermine U.S. influence while at the same time enjoying its benefits.

But the last thing anyone else who agrees needs is to falsify information in order to make the other side look bad.

In Truth lies Victory.

Photoshopped?

Watch the videos. That woman and kid are in them. I don't think those photos were photoshopped. And no I'm not on that crazy right wing nut job's side. I just hate to see people making things up and at the same time calling other people liars. Also why are you responding to, linking to, giving fuel to the fire of someone like that? They put those pictures up and spew that garbage to get this exact response out of people. You took the bait hook line and sinker. The best thing to do would be just to ignore it. The only reason why people like Michelle Malkin are popular is because they can whip people up into a frenzy (people on both sides). If you are going to respond it's best not to take issue with specific facts like: were the photos altered. It's better to respond in general to their arguments and ideas. Which of course are pretty easy to poke holes in. my 2 cents.
»

You're right.

I was so eager to dismiss the photos that I mistook shadows from the fill flash for drop shadows in a photoshop layer. Stoopid!

But You Were A Gentleman

about it and for that you deserve the utmost respect!

Thanks Onry

I can use a little Umble pie now and them

Crow, Siena Style (Crowsciutto)

best sandwich I ever had. That's a cup of red wine on the side. They let you walk out of the shop with it there. Siena is lovely.
»

Where's Siena?

And I wish I could drink red wine but I get migraines from it! I stick to a fine glass of Reisling with any food I eat!
