Hola Posse, Any folks that read this 'blog into gaming? I play the d20 system, and have a posse in Tacoma that plays a weekly D&D-style game, and I'm thinking of starting a game club in Oly for some fun-- Play at the Artisan Cafe, Timberland, or maybe the Oly Center: I have been wanting to run a "hard" SCI-FI game for a long time, and my regular group is strictly interested in fantasy, so...just trying to gauge the temp here-- I'm a big reader of fantasy & sci-fi, and want to hook-up with folks that are looking for a futuristic jaunt into gameland-- I'm inspired by older games such as: Traveler TSR's Gamma World & Star Frontiers ...the old Star Wars game (West End) I'll be using parts of the rules from the Open Game License & the d20 System...(called the System Reference Document & d20 Modern). Any thoughts?

The wikipedia has some general information. I started playing in 94 if I remember right. I remember that "Ice age" was a huge deal and was playing for awhile when it came out. I'll have to poke around and see if I still have those cards. I had them stashed with a bunch of Ken Griffey Jr. rookie cards.
I never did play but I've

Submitted by shackdaddy on Sat, 06/09/2007 - 9:19am.Hey Chad, I've played some of those games: StarFrontiers, GammaWorld, StarWars, and an old Traveller-like game called SpaceOpera. I might be interested in playing once every couple of months or so. I haven't used D20 much, but I've used the GURPS system.
I built a game universe about 10 years ago that was all post-nuclear and underground-cities, but I realized that my story for it was so linear it would be better to write it into a novel than turn players loose in it. Normally when I run a game, I like it to be an open frontier with a dozen options available...
Anyway, there's hope for gaming locally. Check out the Olyboardgamers group that meets once a month at Plenty. I know some of the people there are into RPG. I play strategy games with them when I can.

Submitted by chad360 on Mon, 06/18/2007 - 12:09pm.Olympia Cards & Comics is moving to a new, larger store and I'll be running several games there, incl a Sci-Fi world--
Sounds like we have had similar game experience with those old classics, so right on!
I may pop out some A&A or try Settlers of Catan if the OlyBlog / Artisan Cafe game nite takes off-- Have you checked the new Avalon Hill Axis & Allies games? I'm waiting for the re-release of the Talisman board game! (yes, it is back!)
Sold my Warhammer 40K stuff
Submitted by NWarty on Sat, 06/09/2007 - 9:27am.Sold my Warhammer 40K stuff last year. After painting over 300 figures and vehicles over 6 years, I got a little burned out. Kept one army just in case.
I hated to part with them, but they were collecting dust and I have other hobbies :)
A&A anyone?
Submitted by chad360 on Mon, 06/18/2007 - 11:55am.OK, I have got it!
I'm thinking about a Game nite at the Artisan...can we all make this happen, like the days that Norm is suggesting?
I'm open to bring some game stuff for folks to enjoy when we-all hang out-- pls post and make time/place suggestions-- my vote so far would be to try to make it be the time/places that Norm was posting on recently: The Artisan Cafe, but I'm spacing the time, day of the week deal--
In Tacoma we used to play at the Childern's Museum, and also on the "middle" Sunday of each month...we also gamed on Thursday nites (cuz Friday is for partying!).
Any thoughts?
