Healing and Hope: Alternatives to Meds

Tue, 08/15/2017 - 7:00pm - 9:00pm
I always hear the same question: What are the alternatives to psychiatric meds?
At this talk, you can ask me! I will also share alternative models of understanding human suffering, trauma and emotional distress. You'll get practical tips for living freely, creatively and healthfully.
Chaya Grossberg has been an advocate for human rights and informed choice in the mental health system for over 15 years. She survived being put on 7 different psychiatric pharmaceuticals, causing her to be bedridden for over a year and have a near death experience. She returned with tremendous gifts of healing people whose lives have included psychiatric meds.
Please come and invite other people who have been psychiatrically d...iagnosed themselves, those seeking alternatives, and people supporting others who are looking for alternatives to meds. Healers, trauma survivors, and medical practitioners/therapists will benefit.
All are welcome regardless of whether you have a diagnosis, take meds, or are supporting others.
Chaya has worked as a teacher, healer and advocate with The Freedom Center, Western Massachusetts Training Consortium and Alternative To Meds Center. She was the commuity organizer at the Mental Health Association of Portland, assistant director of Portland Hearing Voices and a Warm Line Specialist at the Mental Health Association of San Francisco. She has taught classes at California Institute of Integral Studies to their spiritual emergence group.
For the past 15 years she has taught classes around the country and consulted with individuals and families around the world seeking creative, nutritional and lifestyle based alternatives to psychiatric meds. She blogs on the popular site www.madinamerica.com and her own blog, www.chayagrossberg.com.
