I love OFS (a mouseover)

Tonight while heading to the Wall I happened upon some new sign art on display in front of OFS. Thank you, OFS. It made my walk better. And if there's a way to do this for every movie...yes.

As well, I tried to find out who the artist is in order to give attribution, but the person at the door didn't know. I have my suspicions but if anybody else has fact for OlyBloggers and Olympians, that'd be even better.

Edit: Thank you for the information cupric oxide, and thank you for the art Vince Ryland & Ira Coyne.

It's very classy looking. Reminds me of quieter times.

My first thought was...

...that looks like the work of a guy that lives over at the westside marina. I can't remember his name right now.

I know who you are

Talking about, and its West BAY marina :-p

I just don't know his name...

It might be Jimi Davies

What a great sign! It might by Audrey's hubby, Jimi. He is an amazing coppersmith among many other things. craftsmancopper.com.

It's an awesome sign.And

It's an awesome sign.

And incorporating the...whatever that thing is called from the movie.

OFS sign

It was painted by a collaboration of Vince Ryland, and Ira Coyne. They are both locally well known for being old school hand painted sign gurus. It is my understanding that this will be done for all upcoming films at OFS. I think it's fantastic! And until a new marquee is designed and installed, it's a pretty cool way of advertising the movies at The Capitol Theater. Speaking of which, I think it's incredibly cool to see the facade of the theater. I can hardly wait for the clean up and restoration!! Go OFS!!!

beautiful

Thank you for the knowledge. My guess was either of those two, but I didn't want to pass around the wrong info. I am all for this sort of cooperation between our local artists and businesses. As an outsider and avid arts fan I cannot say enough about the incredible wealth of talented artists in this city. I hope we work to encourage this resource.

If you're walking around downtown please stop in to let OFS know that this is a beautiful idea realized.

I guessed half-right!

yay.

Vince & Ira also did the Safeway window this holiday season

and did it so well that we left part of it up. Hopefully the city won't rush to scrape it off (that is an endevour for the strong willed and power-washer equiped)

it made me happy

I have a picture of that along with some others in the OlyBlog Vince Ryland collection.
