Ignorant Movie Review:  fac·tôt'um

Response to title:  I've known about this movie for awhile as it was filmed in the Twin Cities area while I lived there.  I'm curious because it's about a writer (Henry Charles Bukowski) but I wasn't curious enough to rush out and see it before now as I've never been a big Bukowski fan.

Response to curbside poster:  I still don't get casting Matt Dillon as Bukowski.  He has perfect teeth.  What the fuck.

Response post-credits:  Some good and a lot that doesn't impress me, so in that respect, exactly like Bukowski's works.  Prior to seeing this movie my greatest respect for Bukowski's works came from the facts that he could give a shit what I think and he kept writing his way.  Leaving the movie, I maintain the exact same respect for Hank the writer.  I would recommend this movie to Hank's casual fandom and those interested in modern cult heros; I'd be surprised if his hardcore fans weren't disappointed.

Rating:   2.5 out of 5 Oly Stubbies and a glass of cheap Scotch.

Film Haiku:  Vomit between cabs,
             "some chips and mixed nuts",
                     a window in brick.

Can be seen:  Olympia Film Society

                 Thursday, October 19, 9pm

Post-script:  I only made it to one movie this week as a result of losing my time somewhere between conversation amdist beers 1 and 2 at the Broho.  I'll try harder to stick to my one beer regimen next week.
