Ignorant Movie Review: The Puffy Chair
» Response to title: Chairs are typically built for one, so, a comfortable arrangement for one? Response to curbside poster: Cheesy. I think I get it, I think it'll be a relationship story using the analogy of a visually comfortable chair for staying together. Response post-credits: I don't know that I would've liked this movie without its fairly low production value. Their conceit with the puffy chair in question fits the often flat sound and lighting. As the idea of film has come to represent greater immediate visual quality and demands those expectations when you enter a theater, this movie's not-quite-rightness in production sets the tone in not living up to immediate expectations. The love protagonists are attractive (but not perfect), they say "love" alot (but that's it), the e-bay picture of the puffy chair looks fantastic, marriage lasts forever (ha ha ha ha) and non-forced roadtrips are supposed to be fun. It's a tale of modern archetype missing. Definitely worth seeing, and you get the added bonus of watching other people exist in uncomfortable silence. Rating: 3.75 Oly Stubbies Film Haiku: Lush look sinks divine "...and I don't fuckin' know shit" but it's fun to whine.
