Did JPO's thread about UW students protesting concealed carry on campus get deleted? I thought we determined that UW was considered local due to its affect on the great Olympia community?

Odd

You're right, it isn't there anymore.

I'm a bitter, clinging American.

Odd II

Especially after RR thanked me for making an attempt at hyperlocaling it.

She also had a Mothers Day Event deleted for being "non-news" and a "cut 'n' paste" - Indymedia must be an exception I guess.

»

I really disagree with this policy of deleting posts

We have the ongoing argument about what is hyperlocal and then we have the question about what disappeared.

I encourage the decision makers here to break the blog into sections.  The front page can be the metro section.  I support creation of a gun section, an arts section, a world section, lifestyle, science and technology, and a hall of shame section for entries that the docents think are really poor examples of the blogging life.

»

Very disappointing

"Hyperlocal" has become the wedge issue of Olyblog.
»

Before we jump to conclusions

we should ask JPO, it may have been self-deleted or whatever. This does kind of stink though.

»

Not it.

Perhaps PMing docents would be a good way to get to the bottom of it without starting a witch hunt.

»

PMing lessens trasparency

and asking a question is not starting a witch hunt.

How about posting the reason or reasons a post gets taken down w/out accepting comments.  Let people debate rather than speculate.

»

My intent was not a witch hunt, I hope it doesn't end as one.

Well,

It just seems like these kinds of posts become "Why I hate the docents" threads, as opposed to constructive means of figuring things out. I also remind you that anybody can propose changes to the social contract or comment policies.

Again, not my intent.

My thread consisted of 2 questions. I think asking questions is constructive. It could be that JPO's account blew up accidentally and sucked all of her threads into the twilight zone. I thought maybe someone knew.
»

Well....let's see....

I started a blog about the deleted post and my blog was deleted.  No one talked to me.

There's lots of circumstantial things happening.

Twilight Zone, indeed

»

Maybe

If the docents would answer a simple question as opposed to complaining about someone asking the question...  seems like someone rather than saying "yes it was deleted by docent action" or "JPO deleted it" or "space aliens deleted it" or whatever, they made this into a bigger issue than it should have been.

Weird

Given this link I would say something is up. Her account seems to be active, but I know she has had more threads than the 3 it is counting. Certainly she has started one since Nov 30th.
»

Maybe she "pulled a Merwyn"

and deleted her own threads.
»

That thought had crossed my mind

She's been known to do so.

Yep...

The razor is leaning in this direction.

Oh Man - Am I in the

Oh Man - Am I in the dictionary now? Technically I "edited" those old threads. I PM'd Rick an apology during one of the vandalism threads when I put two-and-two together on something.

I think from now on instead of analysts looking over a sheet of statistics, they should check their gugs.

Norm

I'm guessing that more than just Onry know what has happened.  There is a verbal game of cat and mouse going on here.

I have a way of personally contacting her, but it's not going to change the events of the past week.

Let's let it play out a bit longer

I feel like Mystery Inc trying to solve a case....with the exception of having no van, and no scooby.

I had nothing to do with it

Don't know why anyone would think you did

I certainly wouldn't accuse you Rob.

Although your participation in this thread is a bit suspicious....*eyes Rob suspiciously*

"scratches feet, and flicks toejam on floor"

Ughh, I've spent too much time in a MUD tonight as it is without seeing that here :-)

"stares out window and tries

"stares out window and tries to remember obscure lyrics to describe the situation so I can sing to myself while the grownups are fighting" ;)

That would be the song, "Skip a Rope."
