I'm having some technical difficulties, I'm not trying to be purple.

Well, I was going to ramble on and on but I ended up deciding to condense it.

I spent a good portion of the weekend with friends and family, and shared
this story with them. I got some good feedback and learned a little bit in
the process.

First, and foremost, let me start out by apologizing. I truly am sorry for
saying what I said, and offending whoever I may have. I would love to say
that I didn't mean any of it, or that I said it wrong and that it was taken
out of context. Being not such a great liar I'm afraid I cannot do that.
When I typed the message I was feeling snide, crass, malicious, spiteful and
just plain mean. I would love to cop out and say it was "heat of the moment"
or "I was just so angry" but if you go back and read the times in the posts
and when mine was typed, you'll see I would have had plenty of time to cool
down if that were the case. I wasn't angry (as was suggested) I wasn't
drunk or drinking (another suggestion) I was simply being mean. That's
all that I am going to say about my frame-of-mind when I was typing the
message. I do, however, again wish to reiterate that I am sorry for the
folks who I hurt....you know who you are.

Second, I truly hope that you take Larry's thread seriously. After reading
the docent comments I felt pretty guilty. Keep in mind that I already felt
pretty guilty (of course I wasn't going to let anyone know) about the
comment to begin with. If I did actually have a problem with anger (or any
other mental illness for that matter) I wonder what the results might be.
The thought of that scares me, but ask yourself, if you had read in the
daily O, "guy hangs himself in the shower, only clue is running computer
with olyblog on the screen." how would you have felt? I'm not
going for a pity party here, just give it some thought. As well, please
keep in mind, and I don't mean this in an insulting matter: NONE of you,
on this blog, and I truly mean none of you, know me well enough to be
able to suggest that I seek some kind of mental health of any sort.
Some of you have mentioned how "not-Norm" my comment was, but how well
do any of you really know me? Having a couple of beers and talking about
birth control doesn't qualify any of you to say, "Personally?  I'd
recommend Norm get some anger management issues addressed and go back
to school regarding women's rights". I would ask, that you consider
taking discussions such as these and making them private. If I had a
mental illness, or a short fuse, wouldn't a public airing of my (in your
opinion[s] ) problem simply exacerbate said problem? With that, I'm
dropping the subject.

Third, I want to apologize to the blog as a whole. I am sorry for causing
such a huge uproar and making a place that, normally, is engaging and
peaceful and making it a place full of strife. The blog kind of looks
like it had the flu.

Lastly, I want to apologize to Enpen, who tried to turn me around (a bit
condescendningly, but given my behavior) and I just kept on being a dick.
You have been nothing but kind to me in the past and this is how I
repay that kindness, "yay me!" huh?

Norm

PS I won't be returning to this thread. I spent awhile trying to find the
right words to include and I'm copping out and choosing not to return so
that I don't see them manipulated or challenged. That might make me a
bad person but I'm choosing to set some limits. IF there is something
that I really need to know, or you just want the chance to scream at me,
feel free to send me a message.

PPS I don't have any expectations at this point. This is here when/if you choose to accept the apology. I don't make any assumptions and understand if this is not possible. So yeah, that's all.

Great Post Norm!

And I'm a woman who didn't even see your post!  But if I had and I'd been offended, I'd forgive you!

This is not for Norm, unless he reads it

I'm not sure if it's popular to be a man nowdays.  Regardless, you demonstrated what a man would do.  Should we disagree in the future, and we will, you'll always have my respect.

Thanks - Larry

No

This is not what a man would do. This is what any reasonable person who feels bad about something they said or did would do.

Norm, thanks.

Ditto that.

Ditto that.

Thanks for the post Norm (I bet you're checking back)

Every community needs a good case of the flu now and then. Builds resistance to the next, more virulent, strain. I hope everyone can feel a little better now. You brought up one point that I think is very imporant and I see it's negative manafestation on other sites too. That is, using public comments when a private message is more appropriate. People really should think about whether or not a comment should be public or not before hitting the post button.
