Invitation to clown with Olympia's only official clown alley, the Red Nose Brigade (est. 1994)

Our Junior Joey program needs young clowns (18 years and under) who march to the beat of a different drummer.

We start the 2008 parade season with the Lacey Spring Fun Fair on Saturday May 17. The theme is Hysterical Hats and Homegrown Music.

We will meet at the home of our resident Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Graduate, Sprout the clown. The alley will provide assistance with basic character development and make-up. However, due to the wide variety of styles and sizes of clowns, Junior Joeys will be expected to bring their own costumes or clown-like clothing. Keep in mind the following guidelines. White face clowns are the fanciest clowns. They like black & white formal wear, pastels, and metallic fabrics. Auguste (red face) clowns are the loudest. They like primary colors. Hobo/Tramp clowns are the messiest clowns. They wear oversized/ undersized/ mismatched or torn clothes. Character clowns are funny lookin’ doctors, firemen, police, cooks, etc. If you have a costume we can make it funnier.

Please avoid T shirts or other garments with writing, logos, pictures from TV/ Movies.
Parents and guardians must be within visual and/or auditory range of the clowns during the parade.
Junior Joeys who successfully complete the route will be invited to continue with the alley at future parades and shows in Lacey, Tumwater, Olympia, Oakville and beyond.
