We lost power for about 30 seconds right after 10 p.m. So exciting! I had my computer on, but fortunately it wasn't affected -- thank goodness for my surge protector! What a great ending to the weekend.

That was AWESOME!

Almost as good as the ones we had weekly on the east coast :-)

Seriously, though, I'm impressed.  My ground-level basement windowsills completely filled with water and leaked inside.  I'll have to check tomorrow and see how the garden fared.

I love it.

Reminds me of my Kansas days. I stood out in the street and got soaked in about 15 seconds.

Did I fall asleep and wake up in Minnesota in June?

...not to imitiate the previous reply...but I was going to say so anyway. I adore this weather and get strange longings for it...enough so, that I consider driving to the east side of the Cascades when I know there's "bad" weather over there. (My cat ran to the back of the house to get away from the thunder, but the back window was open so she ran to the front of the house...and so forth.)

My cat was completely chill

until he heard me whooping and hollering with delight.  For some reason that freaked him out more than the thunder!

Guglielmo ~ OMG! ANOTHER KANSAN???

What part of Kansas are you from?  I moved here from Olathe, KS but was born & raised in the Lee's Summit, Missouri area!!!

When the storm hit tonight, I had to email my husband who's on a business trip in China, and tell him all about the storm & how much it reminded me of a storm from Kansas!

TOO COOL!

Salina...

or actually, the old SAC airforce base just outside of Salina. Flat. It was very flat and full of corn.
»

I Know Salina Well!

Never been to the base there though!

I'll have to post a story here sometime

The base, Schilling Manor, comprised about 800 women and children whose husbands and fathers were in Vietnam. We spent 1968 there. Interesting year.

Lee's Summit?

I was born in Brunswick, moved after a few years to Skidmore and then ended up here! Small world.

I've seriously never seen it

I've seriously never seen it rain THAT HARD in Oly. Gawd, that was an awesome little storm! (from someone who grew up in the south) :)

I had to pause Snakes on a

I had to pause Snakes on a Plane and just watch the storm. This was the best one I've seen in years. Most of the time I was just seeing the sky flash blue but at one point there was a definite lightning streak (I'm guestimating somewhere over the bay, but I saw it through trees) immediately followed by a very loud thunderous crack so it must've been close.

I wish I had a balcony like when I lived at Boston Harbor, I'd have been outside.

This isn't an argument, it's just contradiction ~ No it's not!

MERWYN

You could have put Snakes on a Plane on Stop and not missed anything!  That was the dumbest movie I've ever seen, despite the fact it did make me jump a few times!  LOL!

It was very dumb, but dumb

It was very dumb, but dumb in the cheesy way that I like. It wasn't as good as the storm though.

I saw Truffault's The 400 Blows a few nights ago so I get my fair share of intelligent flicks too.

Holy shit,

I'm going to have to stay up all night and listen to the storm/rain...so cool. Also, I wanted to see if my comment would get banned if I said "holy shit" in the subject line.

While I think people would

While I think people would object to someone who insisted on sharing an F bomb every three words we're all adults here. And this was truly a "Holy Shit" storm!

Snakes & Coffee

This is the ideal way to wake up when you might not really want to: drink black coffee and stare at this video. I cannot promise enlightenment but I can promise that you will wake up.

The storm was wonderful! We

The storm was wonderful! We got the kids up, opened up the garage and set up chairs so we could snuggle up and watch the show! Fun times.

I love storms....

I really miss living in Washington, DC where we had so many great storms and the lightening was incredible. I did see and hear this one last night, but I was afraid to walk out in it but now I regret it! Sadly, my poor little doggie was reacting as if they were fireworks. Still, ya gotta love a good storm like that!! Zowie!

Firefly's

That was my BIGGEST discovery in Wash DC. I had never in my life seen one and we were at a park as it was getting dark and suddenly there were little lights here and there. The little flash flood that happend in NJ was cool too though.

Reminds us

of how little and insignificant we really are on this here rock! Wow! I love a good lightning storm!

Fireflies...or Lightening Bugs....

Yep, I remember the first time I saw a firefly. People were laughing at me. Back then I was still saying pop instead of soda. Yup. And sack instead of bag. Funny thing about that east coast/west coast thang. Now I cannot say pop, just won't come out. It's all so trivial, but you really notice it! I miss DC.....but I do love Olympia. : )
