John Edwards has asserted throughout his third place campaign that he would stick it out until the convention. Until now, I didn't understand why, I do now, and I'll share it with you.

If he stays in the race, he could pick the next president. If Clinton and Obama remain in a close race, which seems likely as there's not a lot of difference between them on the issues, and Edwards rolls into the convention with 10% of the delegates, then he of course will have to drop out, he'll then put his support somewhere, and where he puts it will decide the next president. I'm sure it's worth at least a cabinet position for him, or maybe a seat on the Supreme Court?

Or maybe VP

VP

If Obama could get Edwards on as VP this game would be pretty close to over.  Not to mention if they have success once in office (war/economy) there'd be almost no reason to vote in 2012.

Yup,

I'm betting on a Clinton/Edwards ticket.

I think he goes with Obama

I think he goes with Obama if at all.

Yeah

I can't see a Clinton/Edwards ticket. I can see a Clinton/Richardson ticket or a Clinton/Warner ticket, but I hope not. I am tired of seeing the same two families in the executive branch over the last 28 years. I don't want more. Still wish Edwards had traction. I like his message.

If by traction you mean money, then I agree.

Now would be time for him to

Now would be time for him to enter into his Huckabee moment, if he's got one.
