Looking for housing for an Iraqi student enrolling at Evergreen

The Iraqi Student Solidarity Committee is urgently looking for your help to house an Iraqi student who has enrolled at Evergreen. Please consider opening your home to this student, or speaking with people you know who might be interested. Long-term options are preferred, but shorter commitments will help too. Contact information is below. Many thanks!

The Evergreen Community is taking steps to support the education of a student displaced by the hostilities in Iraq. This is concrete action, step-by-step, to make a difference in the life of one young man whose dreams of an education and career in Iraq have been shattered. This is an opportunity to restore his education and aspirations.

Advocacy

The Iraqi Student Solidarity Committee, in collaboration with the national Iraqi Student Project and the Rachel Corrie Foundation, is coordinating efforts to make it possible for an Iraqi student to attend Evergreen in the near future. ISSC is also spearheading fundraising efforts to cover necessary educational and living expenses.

Tuition

The Evergreen State College has established a Displaced Student Tuition Waiver Program, making it possible for qualifying international or domestic students to apply for needed tuition support.

Housing

We need you!  ISSC is seeking to place the student in a secure, comfortable, caring home environment. You or someone you know may have the ability to welcome this student into your home and provide room and board.
