FRESNO, Calif. - John McCain is hoping to solve the country's energy crisis with cold hard cash. The presumed Republican nominee on Monday proposed a $300 million government prize to whoever can develop an automobile battery that far surpasses existing technology. The bounty would equate to $1 for every man, woman and child in the country, "a small price to pay for helping to break the back of our oil dependency," McCain said at Fresno State University.
I don't think I have to elaborate how this applies to Olympia's active green lifestyle and activism. Imagaine a government funded prize of this size to find a powerful, effective battery for electric or hybrid cars.
The battery should be wholly US made of US components IMHO. Too much technology is not being made within our borders anymore.

Wow
That's something we could have afforded before launching a war in Iraq that McCain supports, or drawing up plans to maintain long term military installations (something else McCain supports). I believe this is called "talking from your ass.".

It's a nice thought though
And I don't like McCain either.
This is a non political tag line and cannot be linked up through a twisted thought process to an obscure company making specialty tools.
I wonder if it will...
McCain is kidding right?
The sad thing is I don't think he is. This in addition to his flip flop on ANWAR is probably the extent of his energy policy.
How about giving the cash to Tesla motors. They have a production ready 2 seater roadster that get 200+ miles on a charge from a fully recyclable lithium ion battery. It also goes from 0 to 60 in four seconds YAHOO! At a $100,000 a piece it's out of the reach of almost all Americans but 300 million sure would pay for a lot of R&D for a more afforable vehicle.

That's hilarious. And posted 1 day 1 minute after Carlin's death.
