Disabled Iraq War Veteran Aaron Birdle testifies in opposition to Washington State Dept of Health's vision of medical marijuana limits that constitute a 60 day supply. DOH had previously recommended 71 ounces, 99 plants, but retreated to 24 ounces, six mature plants (over 12 inches?) after Governor Gregoire's office intervened and told them to get input from law enforcement.

“What do I do for my remaining 18 ounces – the majority of the medicine I need? Oh I go to the black market. Oh, so now I’m giving all of my money to real criminals so this draft proposal which is going to put in a six plant limit is actually going to empower criminals.”

Medical Marijuana v. Legalization

Thanks for posting this! Hey, I am curious about your opinion on Medical Marijuana v. Legalized Marijuana. It seems to me that it is a travesty that Marijuana is illegal - when much more destructive drugs, like alcohol, are not only legal but widely available and even encouraged...

I heard a statistic that approximately 70% of violent crimes are committed under the influence of alcohol.

I say, legalize it. If legalized, it can then be regulated commercially. Of course, the six plant personal growing limit would then be irrelevant. Marijuana users deserve legalization. Take the criminality out of it for everyone.

p.s. by the way, the video didn't run very smoothly. Good selection though - good argument by the speaker.

I think the video is running choppy because of my antique computer. The poor-beast is over 4 years old now. If I set the processor to high performance it gets so hot and the fan runs almost constantly, so I like to run the process at reduced performance.

Might also be because my qw-st dsl isn't too hot. Maybe it's time to make the switch to Zhonka.

I got spotty Qwest DSL...

...for the last few days, so maybe try SpeakEasy as well-

Bert, I'd be happy to help you upgrade or tune your PC for free, as it is a hobby of mine =)

Zhonka uses Qwest technology as well, so >good luck<

The only other options are NoaNet at TSS Digital Services.

ahem. . ?

even though Zhonka utilizes Qwest DSL lines to connect customers to *OUR* network to provide service, we do not have "spotty DSL".

I can't imagine why people would let the phone company be their ISP, especially given the history of phone companies in "giving it up for the man" in violation of privacy rights.

Qwest DSL + Qwest ISP = 'Spotty Service' and privacy questions
Qwest DSL + Zhonka ISP = 'Premium Routing' with Static IP and no blocked/sniffed traffic

'nuff said. :P

p.s. I could have converted the videos down (lower quality) a bit, so if you are using your link for other things, you may want to let the video buffer until it's about 50% loaded.

Hey, thanks for the explanation of how the routing works.

We know how the big international corporations like qwest and att, for example, like to keep an eye out for trouble-makers so that they can tell there cronies in gov't. Definitely a good reason to make the shift - besides the better service.

re: the video - I typically have harder time with blip, than other video players.

Internet 101?

Never said Zhonka had spotty DSL-

said "Zhonka uses Qwest" >whatever<

Didn't mean to ruffle your feathers man...

...but, if (for instance) the Qwest lines are rocky, then so is the Zhonka DSL signal that rides the line (my point)...am I mega-baked? ...did Al Gore explain the Internet to me incorrectly? =)

So, while we are on the topic, just what does Zhonka do for $15 per month per customer? I still don't even understand what Zhonka does-

-I suppose that Zhonka uses Qwest PSTN/POTS to route DNS requests to/from the "Zhonka Router" (which gives the DSL speed based on distance from CO), and which in turn is connected to another cable that leads to wholesale IP bandwidth from a larger company (find out more like at "bandwidth advisors")-

Curiosity has just got to kill this cat here and now~ How much bandwidth does Zhonka buy monthly (at a wholesale rate), to re-vend to the Oly DSL consumer base? ...what is the minimum monthly commit?

~does Zhonka resolve DNS for customers?

~does Zhonka provide or manage any form of network connectivity that increases/decreases line speed?

I had Zhonka for a while, with the fastest line speed Qwest has...

Regardless, the "line chatter" is quiet now and all is good-

-but please feel free to send me a quote for 15Mb DSL...I'm getting tired of the cheap-ass 3.4m/584k DSL line we have now-

...and any "super-duper" I-know-more-than-you" info you care to bless us with that covers your scary include about "sniffed traffic", et al...please feel free to post and roast and boast man...

...supposedly this Internet stuff is your gig and if there is a "value add" you can prove, then please "sell me, sell me, sell me" your "cool", "safe", somehow "better" DSL-

-and while this is a merry voice, I am serious...This 'blog should know that I respect the heck out of Unabonger and the ole Dave-O/OlyWaNet posse (and now Oly is chock full of Zhonka-ee goodness...

...I can't thank Dave & Jay (+ crew) enough for having the vision to offer the SurfBreak package to the business owners downtown, but I'd love to see more value from Zhonka and more service capacity (speed & location). nuff said ;-)
