Mid-Century Architecture in Olympia with Michael Houser - Thursday at 7, Washington Center Mainstage

State Architectural Historian Michael Houser will present an overview of Olympia architecture of the 50's and 60's. If you'd like to know more about how the modernist era in architecture shaped our city, here's your chance to look and learn. Michael will present a lot of historical photographs and tell the story of how post-war architectural styles were incorporated into the landscape of our city. Irv Flotree, architect from the era, will be present to lend his views and experiences. This will be a great event for anyone interested in architecture, design, history, and city planning and zoning issues. Learn to see Olympia in a new way-- as a layered and meaningful historical record. As mid-century buildings begin to enter historic status, learn about why we should appreciate, celebrate, and take good care of our mid-century architecture.
