Bows out in bid for the 2008 White HouseMitt Romney once said,
The only way your getting in the White House - guided tour. Almost feel like he's clearing the way for McCain to cruise while Obama and Clinton battle down to the wire. Huckabee? He has very little support in remaining delegate states and likely won't be much of a factor. The bible belt voted on Super Tuesday. McCain could be tough to beat on election night given his status as an American Hero P.O.W.

Top Cop Says McCain Was Never Tortured
Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
Thursday, February 7th, 2008
A former Vietnam veteran with top secret clearance says he has personally spoken to numerous POW’s who dispute John McCain’s claim that he refused to provide information after he was captured and tortured in Hanoi, saying that in fact McCain’s code-name was "Songbird" because of his willingness to tell all to avoid torture.
Jack McLamb served nine years in secret operations in Cambodia and other nations before going on to become one of the most highly decorated police officer’s in Phoenix history, winning police officer of the year twice before taking a role as a hostage negotiator for the FBI.
"I know a lot of Vietnam veterans and a few POW’s and all the POW’s that I’ve talked to over the years say that John McCain is a lying skunk," McLamb told the Alex Jones Show.
"He never was tortured - they were there in the camp with him and then when he came in….he immediately started spilling his guts about everything because he didn’t want to get tortured," said McLamb, contradicting the official story that McCain only offered his name, rank, serial number, and date of birth.
"The Vietnamese Communists called him the Songbird, that’s his code name, Songbird McCain, because he just came into the camp singing and telling them everything they wanted to know," said McLamb.

Submitted by Phil Owen on Thu, 02/07/2008 - 10:53am.Bush pulled this same crap on McCain in 2000. Republicans really know how to fight dirty.
The controversy, which got twisted way out of context to the point of blatant fallacy, revolves around the fact that McCain DID share more than his name, rank, and serial number. What he did was he lied excessively to his captors. According to his autobiography, the N Vietnamese made it really easy to lie, asking questions like, "How many chickens do you keep on your warships?" They had no clue how the US military operated, and McCain used that against them. Lying to avoid torture is now standard training for the military.

Where as I don't subscribe to the tactic, to ignore it would be intellectually dishonest. I've been maintaining for a long time that someone, possibly a surrogate would start in on McCain. Bush and Rove used the "illegitimate black child" routine on him once and questioned his capacity to be President, based on what they called the remnants of his POW time. McCain didn't stand up for himself. I'm wondering who stands to gain by the actions of these people and groups.
This is not just dust in the wind. It is a concerted effort to derail McCain. Who wants him out of the race?
