Our fourth collaboration with playwright Israel Horovitz is a charming comic drama that pits American cynicism against French "joie de vivre".
When a down-on-his-luck, middle-aged New Yorker inherits an extremely valuable French apartment, he rushes to Paris to solve his escalating financial woes by selling it ASAP. Upon his arrival in Paris, he is surprised to discover an elderly woman living in the apartment. And she has no intention of moving out.
A spiral of conflict, manipulation and growing friendship--complicated by the old woman's outraged daughter--alter everyone in this poignant play about how the secrets of the dead can transform meaning for the living.
