A new home for OlyWiki: olywiki.org

olywiki

If you've visited OlyWiki at oly.wikispot.org in the last few months you'll have seen a notice announcing that the wiki has moved to olywiki.org.

The original OlyWiki was started by Micah back in 2007, and the music directory has been a consistently popular part of the wiki.

The folks who built wikispot.org, which is what OlyWiki was originally built on, have created new wiki software called LocalWiki, which builds on the successes of wikispot and Davis Wiki. LocalWiki was the recipient of a grant from the Knight News Challenge, and offers some pretty cool features. Most cool: the ability to really easily map content.

So, OlyWiki content has been migrated from oly.wikispot.org to olywiki.org, which is built using the new LocalWiki software.

There may still be some lingering content on the old OlyWiki that needs to be moved, and some of the content that has been moved needs to be updated.

There's also a lot of new pages on olywiki.org, and a lot of Olympia places, people, issues, businesses, and history still needs to be added.

Our goal is 1000 pages. Right now we're at about 157. If anyone is interested in helping, you can.

Would there be significant interest in some kind of wiki meetup?

I made an edit to the post to add an image and a link to the knight grant info.
