Two restaurants at Capital Mall, Thai Garden and Olive's East, will be closing soon. Their leases end in February. For a new lease they would have to move to The Promenade, where construction is underway now, plus their rent would more than triple.

My wife and I were coming
Submitted by emmettoconnell on Sun, 01/15/2006 - 11:02pm.My wife and I were coming back from out of town and we were talking about Olives East closing shop. She told me the story of her first cup of coffee at Olives East when she was 10.
That place was just about the last good thing about the mall, a place I've stopped going to since the opening of Best Buy (sound pollution) and since Macy's took over the Bon. I don't know what they're trying to do over there, but keep it local, they are not. I remember when there was a Burrito Heaven, Popinjay and Greg Klue jewlery, and that wasn't that long ago. Now, I might as well be shopping in Orange County.
I'm hoping Olives East finds a new home.
