From the Olympian:

The South Sound economy showed continued signs of growth in December as Thurston County’s unemployment rate fell to a six-year low, the state Department of Employment Security announced Tuesday.

The county’s unemployment rate dropped from 4.8 percent in November to 4.3 percent in December, while national and statewide unemployment rates also declined.

In actual fact, the reason the unemployment number is so low is that anyone without a job is so depressed by this weather that they are huddled in the fetal position in bed and are unable to apply for benefits, thereby skewing the statistics.

I don't trust this at all kno

I don't trust this at all knowing what I know about the practices of State offices (DSHS commonly has incentive based drives among their staff to get people kicked off of their rolls). I wouldn't put it past the Dept. of Employment Security to use similar tactics in order to meet lower budget requirements set by the state.
