I find I am using www.olympian.com more and more.

I have the pop ups blocked and I also use a Firefox extension that helps me remove some of the ads. Makes it easier to focus on the actual articles.

I can tell the staff really works on the site. They post breaking news through out the day. Sometimes their word choice is funny, such as the breaking news that was up briefly about the whale "wandering" through London, but I realize much of that comes with the fact they are doing things quick. Corrections are made, word choices are cleaned up.

And we all can participate through the comments function.

My favorite bit is when additional online resources are posted with articles. This can help fill out a story immensely.

Sarah,

Thank you very, very much for your kind words. Every department in the newsroom works really hard to contribute and bring new ideas to the site and its very gratifying to see our work appreciated. We've got some big plans for the coming year and I can only hope they'll be as well received.

If any OlyBloggers have any questions or comments about the site or need help with it, I can be reached at 754-5406 or chopkins@theolympian.com.

Thanks again,

I agree the Olympian does a great job! However, I wish they might improve on a couple things: (1) Allow "ordinary people" story writing like this blog and then the editor could promote stories he thinks is well written to the www.Olympian.com front page. Similiar to this olyblog.net. (2) Put in a more well organized online Service and Help module. I reported several months ago my PAPER Olympian is always sorted funny. The sections are ADBC rather than ABCD. My question was never acknowleded or processed. I know its a trivial thing but they never responded to that or other "operational problems reported which were not so trivial. A well written Service and Help module could track and fix "daily operational problems" without letting things fall accidentally through the cracks in internet world.
