Unity in the Community - Meeting to Plan Response to Upcoming Announced Nazi Activity

Please join local residents in building a community response to recent and announced Nazi plans for targeting Olympia for a 3-day Nazi presence over the 4th of July weekend. Our goal is to reinforce and organize a broad-based coalition of groups and individuals truly representative of our community to uphold diversity and say "No!" to hate groups.

Invited participants include:

* Local activists * Representatives of ethnic community organizations * Faith community leaders * Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community activists * Business community leaders * Elected officials * Law enforcement * Local prosecutors * social service agency representatives * everyone who opposes hate groups and is willing to work in coalition with the kind of folks listed above

This initial meeting is being coordinated by Unity In the Community, a multi-cultural organization that formed in the early 1990s in Olympia in response to the targeted murder of Bob Buchanan Jr., a young biracial Olympia man, by neo-nazis and the subsequent wave of neo-nazi violence that followed.

Goals include:

* Sharing information * Building a community support & email network * Initial planning for response(s) to July 3rd Nazi rally on Capitol steps * Encouraging peaceful, non-violent responses to potential nazi activity * Community education
