This afternoon there was major police action up here on the west side, along 5th avenue. My son ended up walking through and was told by heavily armed police to pick up his speed, understandably so. Focus seemed to be on one particular house and an individual inside.

I don't see anything yet in the Breaking News section of the web Olympian. Anyone have details?

Nay Madam, proud. Be proud. Politics is the only real spectator sport worth any energy. Well, that and the caiman games you alluded to awhile back.

Well, yes and no. When I am in the thick of some political activism, I consider it work. But when I watch something like the Presidential primaries for the two major political parties (neither of which I am enrolled or allied), or the amazing California gubernatorial election that resulted in the election of a right-wing movie star (for the second time in the history of that state) then politics is a spectator sport.

What caiman games? The ones in the arena where they run people around and make them do tricks?

I'll cultivate healthy pride in my total ignorance of contact sports (except for when the caimans make us play football, which never happens, ever) and my pride in.......what were we talking about again?

Next Super Bowl (is that one word or two?) I will try an experiment, I'll post something that has nothing to do with sports but with great imagination and skill could be turned into a post leading to a sports discussion.

More like River Ridge's own Jeremy Stevens. Though I find it hard too to catch a ball when it hits me in the hands.

He was a year behind me at River Ridge. He was scrawny back then. Very shy also, the reluctant star. I knew he was a gifted athlete, I just thought he would end up playing basketball like his dad.
