National Socialism Defined

Here is one definition that might be helpful for discussion:

National Socialism - National Socialism, a subset of fascism, is a political philosophy that is most notorious for having been the party ideology of Adolf Hitler's Nazis.
National Socialism combined an appeal to workers and the middle classes, radical anti-capitalism (in its movement stage) together with political opportunism, anti-Marxist agitation and violence, and fierce ethnic nationalism, anti-Semitism and racism.
Upon achieving state power, the doctrine of National Socialism has proven to be genocidal, totalitarian and imperialist. National Socialism claims to resolve the contradictions between capital and labor, often through a "third way."

I think we should have a litt

I think we should have a little research posse on National Socialism. Does anyone have time to do a bit more digging? I'd sure be interested in hearing more about the history, philosophy, and ideology of Nazis. For example, Nazis construed much of Nietzsche as consistant with their beliefs, a reading that has been challenged by many. There seems to be some good stuff in the wikipedia entry for Nietzsche.

You know I'm in on the research posse, I'll even provided smoked caiman snacks for when we research types get hungry.

My focus is mostly on the U.S.A., beginning with George Lincoln Rockwell 1918 - 1967, he founded the American Nazi party, was a major figure in National Socialism, and is a hero to white supremacists still. (I'm wildly cribbing from Wikipedia here.) Our new friends pay homage also to the man.

The thing about Rockwell, he purposefully clowned, provoked, and acted up a storm to rile people, recruit, and intimidate. The more I read about Rockwell, the more I am reminded of one or two of our current friends.

Since I'm doing the modern research, the rest of you have the right to grumble and believe that you are infinitely more scholarly than I. I'll promise to keep the smoked caiman snacks coming, and I'm working up a new caiman cheesecake that should surely mellow everyone out, even as the rest of you toil through thick philosophical discourses from the mother/fatherland.
