From the Olympian:

The LOTT Alliance permit, written by the state Department of Ecology, sharply restricts the amount of organic material in the effluent during the summer.

But at the same time, LOTT will be allowed to increase the flow of wastewater into Budd Inlet during the winter. The sewer partnership serves more than 85,000 customers in Lacey, Olympia and Tumwater.

With an expanding population,

With an expanding population, our current systems for waste management are looking more and more incapable of handling the load.

We need to find a way to turn our waste into an asset. There is too much of it, for it to be treated as a liability. How can we turn human waste into an asset?

I know there are some good ideas out there.
