Nov 11 2005 - 5:00am Evergreen's Veterans Day Commemoration Friday, Noon to 1:30 Sem 2, A-1105 (Open the attached flyer for details.) Come hear three Evergreen students, combat veterans of Iraq, Kuwait and Bosnia, and a Vietnam veteran faculty member as they revisit their experiences and challenge us with their views on "Support Our Troops", a phrase that has been trivialized and politicized. Congress originally established Armistice Day to commemorate the end of World War I with "thanksgiving and prayer and exercises designed to perpetuate peace through good will and mutual understanding between nations." In 1954, it was renamed Veterans Day, and President Eisenhower asked all Americans to "... reconsecrate ourselves to the task of promoting an enduring peace."
