Order for the Border

Another view on borders is provided by Humane Borders. They supply emergency water stations along the U.S - Mexico border. Recently in The Humane Borders Blog there is a discussion of Bush's recent border speeches.

(I used the word "border" how many times for this?)

Allowing too many people with no real vested interest in any country is dangerous.

We already went through immigration reform and amnesty under Reagan and the situation only got worse.

Did you know that about 50% of immigrants learn English after they come, and virtually all of their children learn English natively? That sounds kind of "vested," wouldn't you say?

I wouldn't exactly call learning English, the language spoken by nearly all of the people in this country, a "vested interest." I would call it adapting to your environment.

If I were to emmigrate to France it would be assumed that I learn the language spoken by the people. Not that I feel any loyalty to the country but simply to get by in life.

I have nothing against immigration. I do, however, have a problem with illegal immigration. I don't care if the individual is from Mexico, Iran, Canada, or Great Britain. If a person is here illegally they should be deported immediately.

Exactly, just look at what Western Europeans have done to N. America over the last 400 years!

If I were to ask a Native American about the Western European movement into North America they would say my point has been proven regarding foreign people coming and taking over.

France, the UK, and I believe the Netherlands have all pledged to tighten up on immigration. And then there's the U.S., talking about a more lax system.
