I'm number 3! I'm number 3! If you don't remember those snapple commercials, then you don't get the joke so... Even though I think he'll get knocked for it, I found olyblog.net on the [tescrier] list, from an email that Rick McKinnon sent out. Wow, when I heard about someone setting up a... uhmmm... group blog, uhm... well, at least its a Drupal community? I think... Well, when I heard someone was setting up this (whateve it is) in Olympia I was all over it like things that get all over other things.

Ya think?

I hope they're not so narrow over at TESC computing to knock me for pimping the blog on tesccrier. I hope it will serve some community function after all. I mean, I wasn't asking for someone to rent my house or adopt my cats.

Ancient history

During OlyBlog's first few months, it was easy to discover your chronological number simply by hovering the cursor over your name, so there was a time period where we identified ourselves, as in "The Prisoner," by number.

Actually, this brings up a question that might make a fun thread and I'll throw it out there for all: What brought you to OlyBlog? How did you find out about it?

I was barely in Livejournal,

I was barely in Livejournal, having made up an account there because a friend who moved away was only there, not Myspace, Satanosphere, etc.

Since I'm a cheap-ass free member I wasn't able to search for specific people so I thought if I joined an Oly group I'd be likely to run across people I knew. That didn't happen, but I did find the OlyWa activists and it was either Drew or Wally (can't remember who) who was posting there and referencing Olyblog.

So I checked out Olyblog, immediately learned of the PlanBeach Party at Ralph's, checked it out and you've been stuck with me since.

So remember, it's the OlyWA Activist's fault!

I was on tescrier

Before they shut it down to anyone, so I got Rick's email the day after he set Olyblog up.

Plus, if you go to: http://www.olyblog.net/user/3 it will still point you to my profile. I'm still user 3 baby!

Technorati

I did an Olympia search on Technorati, thinking surely someone here at home was blogging. Found OlyBlog and dove right in.

Great idea

It feels a little nostalgic going through the old threads. Getting everyone's beginning sounds like fun.
