An American Rivers Project:
"In the coming years residents of Puget Sound will have an opportunity to restore vital salmon habitat in the state’s capitol city. Fish and wildlife officials are proposing to study the feasibility of removing Capitol Lake Dam, located at the mouth of the Deschutes River at Budd Inlet, and restoring the tidal estuary to benefit water quality, fish, and wildlife."

Although it will take some getting used to, in time, I know that I will be able to adjust to the estuarine landscape, and learn to appreciate the aesthetic even more than I do the lake as it presently exists.

The link to the Puget Sound Rivers project (listed above) has great information about restoration of the Deschutes tidal estuary to its naturally occuring condition. Essentially, it will not only benefit the wildlife, but us as well.

Whoa. That title gives me pause, suddenly I feel a bit choked up about the possibility of losing Capitol Lake. Only for a moment, then I am eager to watch the process of restoration unfold.

I won't miss the lake at all.

I won't miss the lake at all. It looks nice from a distance, but get too close and it's a scuzzy smelly mess.
