The Tri-City Herald doesn't think much of Olympia's NFZ ordinance:

Editorials Portray America as Insensitive Bully
Submitted by Robert Whitlock on Tue, 08/30/2005 - 11:08pm.I am saddened by your lack of understanding and perception of the fine nuance involved in the charter of this fine Nuclear Free Zone Act.
Perhaps some day, those in the future will look back and forgivingly brush off the critics of the peace movement with the understanding of how fear can penetrate and permeate - then fester in the core of the human being. They will praise those who worked for peace.
TJ Johnson, and other men and women like him, courageous, brave spirits who have the better interests and health of the people at heart will be regarded fondly...
That is assuming humans don't blast themselves off the face of the earth first.

Submitted by V-ster on Wed, 08/31/2005 - 9:05am.With this policy I have hope that our local policy makers might effect successful and integrated change that will lead this community towards wholeness and harmony.
I urge the editorialists to try to understand that ultimately this policy promotes peace to all. All real change begins at home, and I'm proud that my home community leaders get that. Another reason why Olympia is a great place to live.
