* Slide show on edible forest gardens at Robert Jorgensen's house - Wed. June 11 - 2013 Bethel Street NE- 7 pm
* Work party and hands-on workshop Saturday, June 14 and Sunday, June 15 - 2027 Bethel Street NE- 10 am to 4 pm on both days
Don't miss your opportunity to get hands-on training on how to create an Edible Forest Garden in your yard! Terra Commons, a local non-profit working on habitat restoration, sustainable agriculture, and natural building will be working to establish the first Edible Forest Garden in the northeast neighborhood in Cheryl Waitkevich's yard at 2027 Bethel NE on June 14-15. Work parties will be held from 10 am to 4 pm on both days with potluck lunches. - Feel free to come for both full days, half days or just stop by when you can.

Neighbors from all across the City are invited to help plant fruit and nut trees and berry bushes then sheet mulch the lawn by putting down cardboard and wood chips to remove the grass. Edible Forest Gardens consist of three main layers, with fruit and nut trees as the upper canopy, berries and other edible bushes as the middle layer and perennial vegetables and fruits as the ground cover.
The work party includes:
* Design and layout of trees and shrubs in an edible forest garden
* Planting trees and shrubs
* Sheet Mulching lawn
Donations are needed and welcome:
* Woodchips: Maple, alder, willow, etc. NO CEDAR. Call Cheryl at 970-1124 about delivery.
* Money to help Terra Commons put on the workshop. You can mail donations to Terra Commons, 3725 36th Loop NW, Olympia, WA 98502 or bring them to the workshop.
