Just wanted to share an excellent blog contribution with our friends on OlyBlog.

All sorts of reasons, but.............

There are many tactical strategies against the proposal. There have been all sorts of legal wranglings.  Many are the interpretations of who said what, when, and why.
Folks have tried to shore up their points-of-view with help from legislative history, architectual history, living governors, even dead governors.

The point everyone seems to be missing is that, despite all the 'reasons' on all fronts, the fact of the matter is.... the majority of citizens in Olympia, here and now, don't want Larida Passage in any way, shape or form.  They like the isthmus free and clear. They like and value open space and nice views from many angles, not just one. And they like to, at the very least, be listened to. After all, it's not just developers and city council members who live here. Many of us are just lowly citizens who live, work and play in and around Olympia. And, as it happens, we have opinions too.

PS- If anyone takes offense at being called a "lowly" citizen, I hope so.

The majority of Olympians?

"...like the isthmus free and clear. They like and value open space and nice views from many angles..."? I am willing to gamble that the majority of Olympians objected to the specific project, but not all for those reasons. I opposed the buidling of The Seagull Project, but not because I want the space to remain open. I just didn't want the Neo-Tumwater-style monstrosity that was proposed. I think a fair number of Olympians would support a different project.
